Dear Statistical Ecology Section members,

I am the newly elected Secretary for the section for 1996-1998.  One of my
duties is to put together the semi-annual newsletter.  I need your help in
providing information of interest to section members.  I would like to
encourage you to send any relevant items or suggestions on, for example:
	- conference and workshop reports
	- upcoming meetings
	- job announcements
	- book reviews
	- software evaluations

In addition, it would be great if someone wanted to contribute a short
discussion on a relevant statistical/ecological topic.  Previous such
contributions included discussions on statistical power by Philip Dixon and
Jay ver Hoef.

Thanks for any input you give me.  Please send contributions, preferably by
e-mail, to me at the address shown below.  I need items for the next 
newsletter by September 25, since I must submit it to the Bulletin editor by
October 1.
